Did you know that in the region of Murcia there are annual tapas routes that takes place throughout the year?  Well right now there is one happening in the Los Belones area, from the 24th April until the 10th May.  These routes invite both residents and visitors to enjoy a tapa and a drink in participating establishments for just €2.50.

There are 21 bars and restaurants taking place in this particular route, all offering a choice of 31 tapas, and drinks too including wine, beer or a cafe con leche.  There are prizes on offer too, for anyone trying more than 4 tapas and receiving the necessary stamps along the route, they will be entitled to vote for their favorite dish on offer.  They will then be entered into a draw to win a prize.

These routes are a lot of fun and are a great way of checking out new bars and restaurants, and meeting up with fellow visitors and residents in the process too.

Sun, lovely food, drinks and a great chance to socialise too, what a brilliant way to spend a weekend.  That’s why we love Spain!

It’s Tapas Tuesday time again, and this week we’re looking at another classic Spanish favourite, Patatas Bravas.  This is a delicious tapas dish, it is very tasty and goes really well with other tapas too.

It’s also very simple and easy to make with easy to buy ingredients, so a good one to throw together quickly when you’re in a rush but fancy something a little different.

Tapas 1

This particular tapas dish is extremely popular, and you’ll find this pretty much everywhere in Spain.  Whether you are in Barcelona or Madrid, or sat in small beach side cafe, these gorgeous Spanish potatoes are always on the menu.

Fancy having a go at making some yourself?  Here is a recipe that I use, I usually make this to serve around 4-6 people –

Ingredients –

4 large potatoes / 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil / 1 onion / 2 cloves garlic / 1 can of chopped tomatoes / 1 tablespoon tomato puree / 1 teaspoon sweet paprika (you can also use smoked paprika here too)  / A pinch of Chilli Powder (you can add more or less here depending on how spicy you like your potatoes) / Salt and Pepper

What to do –

  • Pop the oven on to 180 0C, and peel and chop your potatoes into small cubes. Pour over a little olive oil and season with salt and pepper, then pop those in to the oven in a roasting tin for around 40 minutes
  • Whilst the potatoes are cooking, chop your onion into small chunks and crush the cloves of garlic
  • In a pan, heat the olive oil, and add the onions and garlic until soft
  • Pour in the can of chopped tomatoes, and add in the tomato puree, paprika and a pinch of chilli powder
  • Taste the sauce as you go along, and don’t forget to season with salt and pepper
  • Add a little extra chilli powder here if you want to make your potatoes that little bit spicier, or if you fancy them a  little sweeter then you can add a pinch of Sugar here too
  • Once your potatoes are looking crispy and ready, transfer into an oven proof dish and pour over the sauce. Pop the dish back in the over for 5-10 minutes until bubbling nicely
  • Take the potatoes out of the oven once ready.  Serve straight from the oven with cocktail sticks for easy eating

These go really well with meatballs, prawns in garlic, calamari and they make a great dish to serve with Paella too.  Stay tuned for more recipes coming up on the next ‘Tapas Tuesday.’

Along with ‘Your place in Spain’ Manchester’s very own Spanish Property showroom, Evuna NQ a Spanish tapas bar/restaurant is a welcome addition to the already existing Spanish restaurants in the city.

A visit is well worth while and a place where clients of ‘Your Place in Spain’ would experience a similar ambiance to any busy tapas bar in Murcia, Marbella, Almeria or the Costa Blanca.

The décor is suitably dark wood, an authentic furniture style, candles and subdued lighting as well as a lively chatter creating a typical Spanish tapas environment. The food was as expected it was delicious, you can see my review on Trip Advisor using the following link http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g187069-d4611205-Reviews-Evuna_NQ-Manchester_Greater_Manchester_England.html.

Book to avoid disappointment

The restaurant was full not surprising as word travels fast about good eateries but that isn’t the only place that is getting a lot of attention, just as it appears where the Spanish property market is concerned, enquiries are up, planned visits after holidays back to Almeria, Murcia or Marbella to view available property are up and there are still great deals to be had in all locations from the Costa Blanca right down and round the coast to Marbella, check out www.yourplaceinspain,com see what’s on offer or send us your requirements from the web site and we will do the rest.
